Everton have made a bid of just over £22million for Barcelona’s Lucas Digne.
Everton boss Marco Silva feels Digne could be Leighton Baines’ long-term successor at Goodison Park and the Blues have opened the bidding for the French left-back.
Everton’s offer is believed to be worth €25million up front with further payments in add-ons.
Barcelona are not looking to sell Digne and he is understudy to Jordi Alba at left-back.
However Digne, 25, is unsettled at the Nou Camp because his lack of game time last season cost him a place in France’s victorious World Cup squad.
