Per the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are set to trigger a one-year option on Anthony Martial’s contract.
The club are not willing to part with their record teenage signing and will trigger the one-year clause even if Martial decides to push for an exit.
The Frenchman cuts a frustrated figure at Old Trafford and has failed to replicate his first season form consistently as he has featured in patches for the Red Devils. After the winter signing of Alexis Sanchez, Martial was reduced to only six starts for Manchester United and his agent has stated his desire to leave the club in search of regular playing time.
At 22-year old, the French forward will not be short of suitors with Juventus previously linked with a summer move but United are not ready to sell this summer and will rather Martial play till 2019.
Martial recorded nine goals and five assists in thirty EPL appearances last season
