Girona will be the first team playing a La Liga fixture in the US following the Spanish FA’s deal to allow one smaller team sacrifice its home game against a big team so they can play one match in North America per season.
Girona was expected to play FC Barcelona at Estadi Montilivi but will instead face their Catalan rivals in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on January 27 2019.
There are also reports of 1500 free flight tickets being available for those who want to attend.
Girona is expected to make close to €4million from the game and is also expected to offer 5,000 free tickets to the reverse fixture at Nou Camp as compensation to their fans.
La Liga signed a 15 year deal to play one match per season in North America in August as a way to promote their brand but most of the players have voiced out discontent over the arrangement as it favours only the big teams.
