Former Argentina manager, Diego Maradona declares he’ll advise Lionel Messi anytime any day not to come back to the national team.
The summer world cup in Russia earmarked the woes that the Albiceleste have been facing over the years. They exited at the Round of 16 against eventual tournament winners, France.
The manner with which Argentina coursed through the tournament even made matters worse. Jorge Sampaoli got the axe as a result of this exit but there were pointing fingers towards the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Messi has kept mute over his international future ever since. In fact, his exclusion from the two squads selected by Argentina’s interim manager, Lionel Scaloni has further fueled the terrible situation.
Citing examples that whatever happens to Argentina, the Barcelona forward is always put to blame; Maradona further added that the country cannot request more of the attacker.
“What would I tell Messi? To not come back anymore. To retire,” he said.
“The Under-15s lose and it is Messi’s fault, the fixture list in Argentina puts Racing against Boca and Messi is to blame. He is always to blame. Stop breaking my balls.
“I would tell him: ‘don’t go anymore, man’. Let’s see if they can handle that. Let’s see if they’re really big men.
